Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DO I GET TO YOUR office?
The address is: 103 Continental Place, Suite 204, Brentwood, TN 37027
Once you turn on Continental Pl, you'll go down to the end of the culdesac, and our building is the one on the left, #103 (it has a flag pole in front of it). Feel free to park anywhere! There is an elevator or stairs you can take to the second floor, and you will see frosted doors that say “Therapy Space.” Inside is the waiting room, and please “check in” on the iPad by finding my name and then type in your initials.

Do you take insurance?
While we do not accept insurance, we can provide superbills upon request! A superbill is a receipt for your therapy sessions, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your coverage and plan.
How do I find out what my insurance covers?
If you are hoping to receive reimbursement from your insurance, we strongly recommend calling your insurance company and asking the following questions:
1. Does my plan cover out-of-network benefits for outpatient behavioral counseling?
The most common CPT Codes: 90791 (initial assessment), 90832 (30-minute session), 90834 (45-minute session—most common), 90837, (60 minutes), 90846, 90847, and 90853 (different types of family/couples therapy sessions).
If yes, how many sessions are allowed per plan year?
Do I have preventative benefits for behavioral counseling?
Does my plan cover diagnosis Z or V code with CPT code 90834? If yes, how many sessions are allowed per plan year?
2. Does my plan only cover behavioral therapy visits considered “medically necessary”?
3. Do I have a deductible to meet first? If yes, how much?
4. What is my co-pay or co-insurance amount for outpatient counseling?
5. My therapist provides superbill receipts for our sessions. How do I submit these for reimbursement, and how long does the process take to receive a financial return?
Can I use my Flexible Spending Health Account or Health Savings Account for payment?
Yes! Clients can typically pay for services with flex spending (FSA) or HSA cards!
what is the best way to contact you?
If you are a current client, we highly recommend using your client portal for messaging your therapist, as it is the most secure. If you are a new client, emailing who you would be interested in connecting with, either <laura@tuliptreecounseling.com> or <shelby@tuliptreecounseling.com> is typically the quickest way to connect, and we will try to respond no later than 48 hours. Please follow up and send another message if we don’t respond within 48 hours. We have the best intentions to respond promptly, yet emails and other administrative tasks can sometimes pile up and get lost in the shuffle.
How frequently do you meet with clients?
We see clients weekly or bi-weekly, depending on what’s most clinically appropriate. The overall length of counseling services varies widely from person to person. Feel free to ask your therapist about their recommendation— we want to collaborate with you to create a clinically appropriate and reasonable schedule with your calendar.
How do I access my telehealth sessions?
Your unique video appointment link will be texted or emailed to you (whichever you prefer). Before joining the appointment, make sure to update to the latest Telehealth app version.
